About google-flights
A skill for searching Google Flights for flight prices, schedules, and availability using browser automation through the agent-browser tool. It applies when a user asks to search or compare flights or airfare, find prices between cities, check availability, or find the cheapest flight for specific dates. It explicitly does not complete purchases (it finds flights and extracts booking links only), and is not for hotels, rental cars, or historical price data.
The preferred fast path constructs a Google Flights URL with a natural-language ?q= parameter encoding origin, destination, date, and options such as returning date, one way, business or first class, and passenger counts, then loads results directly. A session convention separates cases: domestic routes default to economy only in a single session, while international routes run parallel economy and business sessions to show the price delta. A flight is treated as domestic when both origin and destination are US airports, and a list of common US IATA codes is provided to make that call.
Results are read from snapshot link elements, each describing price, stops, airports, times, and duration, and are presented in a compact list format that pairs economy and business by airline and departure time, showing a dash where a budget carrier has no business equivalent. The URL path supports round trip, one way, business and first class, multiple passengers, IATA or city names, and several date formats, while premium economy, multi-city trips, and infant passengers require an interactive fallback. After presenting results it offers to extract booking links for any chosen flight.
FAQ
How does the skill actually search flights?
Through browser automation using the agent-browser tool, ideally by loading a Google Flights URL with a natural-language ?q= query.
Can it book or buy a flight?
No. It finds flights and extracts booking links but does not attempt to complete a purchase on a booking site.
When does it show business class?
For international flights it shows an economy and business comparison, or whenever the user explicitly asks; domestic US flights default to economy only.
What cases require the interactive fallback instead of the URL fast path?
Premium economy cabins, multi-city trips of three or more legs, infant passengers, and cases where the URL fails to load results due to a consent banner, CAPTCHA, or locale issue.
How does it decide whether a trip is domestic or international?
A flight is domestic if both the origin and destination are US airports, checked against a provided list of common US IATA codes.
