About flight-ticket-search

flight-ticket-search is a Korean-language (ko-KR) travel skill that queries Google Flights' public search surface for free to assemble conservative flight-fare information. Built on the fast-flights library, it collects candidate flights and returns Google Flights booking search links plus lowest/average/highest fare comparisons across dates, months, and years. It deliberately uses only the free public surface, with no API key, login, payment, or CAPTCHA bypass, which solves the problem of getting quick fare estimates without a paid flight-data API or manual searching.

The skill runs a bundled helper script (scripts/flight_ticket_search.py) that, on first run, creates a per-user cache venv and installs fast-flights==2.2, then re-executes inside it; no dependencies or API keys are vendored into the repo. Subcommands cover single one-way and round-trip search, monthly comparison (weekly or daily sampling), custom date-range comparison with a configurable step, and multi-year comparison of the same month-day. Results include the Google-provided low/typical/high price band, min/avg/max stats, top candidate airline, times, duration, and stop count, and each candidate is marked complete or partial. The docs stress conservative behavior: reporting parse failures and blocked routes rather than hiding them, honoring rate limits with sleep delays on daily sampling (which can generate around 30 requests), and never auto-extracting or clicking a seller's payment deep link.

Explicitly out of scope are actual booking, payment, cancellation, seat selection, applying member/coupon/mileage pricing, and any CAPTCHA/fingerprint/bot-block circumvention; the booking link is a Google Flights search URL that the user opens themselves. Target users are Korean-speaking travelers and assistants who want fast, read-only fare estimates and cheapest-date comparisons for routes like ICN-NRT or ICN-LAX before booking manually.

FAQ

Does it actually book or pay for flights?

No. Booking, payment, cancellation, seat selection, login, and passport entry are explicitly out of scope. It only returns a Google Flights search link that you open and complete yourself.

Do I need an API key or account?

No. It uses only the free public Google Flights search surface with no API key, login, or payment. On first run it installs fast-flights==2.2 into a per-user cache venv.

What comparisons can it do?

One-way and round-trip search, monthly comparison (weekly or daily sampling), custom date-range comparison with a step in days, and multi-year comparison of the same month-day, each with min/avg/max fares and cheapest-date rankings.

What are its limitations?

Google Flights HTML changes can leave airline names or times unparsed (candidates marked partial), some routes return price only, invalid or same origin/destination codes fail, and far-future dates may have no results. Daily monthly comparison can issue around 30 requests, so a sleep delay is kept to respect rate limits.

Can it search Skyscanner or bypass bot-blocks?

No. Skyscanner is avoided because it returns CAPTCHA/403, and the skill does not perform any CAPTCHA, fingerprint, or bot-block circumvention.
