The hv-analysis skill (Horizontal-Vertical Analysis, in Chinese) is a deep-research method for systematically studying a product, company, concept, technology, or person, producing a polished PDF research report. It combines a vertical axis that traces the subject's full history from origin to present as a narrative, and a horizontal axis that compares it against competitors at the current moment, then crosses the two axes to generate original insight.

It begins with thorough online research, encouraging parallel sub-agents split across vertical information (origins, founders, milestones, pivots, and crises), horizontal information (competitors, reputation, and market share), and supplementary context, with guidance to prefer primary sources and to query arXiv for academic subjects. It then writes a long-form report: a vertical narrative, a horizontal competitive comparison, and a cross-axis insight section that closes with most-likely, most-dangerous, and most-optimistic future scenarios. A bundled WeasyPrint script (md_to_pdf.py) converts the Markdown into a styled PDF, and the skill includes a detailed writing-style guide emphasizing narrative drive, evidence-backed judgments, and avoidance of generic AI phrasing.

It is most useful when a user wants a systematic, in-depth investigation rather than a simple definition, and a presentation-quality report, with the methodology and output oriented toward Chinese-language research.
