About huawei-cloud-network-query
Huawei Cloud Network Query is a strictly read-only skill for inspecting Huawei Cloud network resources across VPC, EIP, ELB, NAT, VPN, and DNS services. It covers VPCs, subnets, security groups, firewalls, route tables, flow logs, elastic public IPs, bandwidths, load balancers, listeners, pools, health monitors, NAT gateways, SNAT/DNAT rules, VPN gateways and connections, DNS zones, record sets, PTR records, and endpoints. It solves the problem of building an accurate, current inventory of network topology and configuration — for verification, auditing, or preparing real parameters for later automation — without any risk of changing infrastructure.
The skill executes queries exclusively via bundled local Python scripts organized by service category (scripts/vpc, scripts/dns, scripts/elb, etc.), invoked through the skill's exec action rather than a shell, and calling the official Huawei Cloud Python SDK. It explicitly prohibits hcloud, openstack, curl-to-IAM, or direct API calls. Usage is governed by clear principles: run the environment check first, consult per-service guide.md files instead of reading script internals, always run a script's -h help before executing, narrow large result sets by region/name/id/status/tag, and never fabricate information that was not actually queried. It performs no create, modify, or delete operations.
Target users are cloud operations, network, and platform engineers who need to query topology, security-group rules, load-balancer configuration, NAT rules, VPN status, or DNS resolution details on Huawei Cloud — including resources not created through Terraform or other IaC — for inventory, verification, and troubleshooting.
FAQ
Can this skill modify or delete resources?
No. It is strictly read-only. It only performs queries and explicitly is not responsible for creating, modifying, or deleting resources, nor for guessing information that has not been queried.
What are the prerequisites?
You must run the bundled environment check script first (check_env.sh on Linux/macOS or check_env.ps1 on Windows) to validate the environment and install dependencies, which include the Huawei Cloud Python SDK packages for core, EIP, ELB, IAM, NAT, VPC, VPN, and DNS from requirements.txt.
How are queries executed?
Through local Python scripts under scripts/<service>/, run via the skill's exec action (not directly in a shell). Using hcloud, openstack, or direct curl/API calls is prohibited; the skill does not depend on those tools.
How do I know which script to use?
Consult the per-service guide.md files under references/. You should execute according to the documented script names, run -h to view usage before each script, and not invent script names — anything not in the guide is unsupported.
What if a result set is very large?
Narrow the scope first by conditions such as region, name, id, status, or tag, and cache output when it is large.
