About searching-media
Searching Media is a universal routing skill for finding and retrieving existing visual media -- images, logos, icons, photos, graphics, banners, thumbnails, hero images, and backgrounds -- from sources such as Salesforce CMS, Data 360 (Data Cloud), or other connected sources. It is scoped strictly to searching for media that already exists, not creating new media: it should not be used to generate new images with AI, build graphics from scratch, or edit existing images. It is designed to take priority and activate first whenever any media search or retrieval is mentioned, and it must run before any media-search tool is called directly.
Because it is a routing skill rather than a direct-search skill, its defining behavior is that the user must choose the search source before any tool runs. The first response when the skill triggers must be a text-only message presenting available search sources as a numbered list, with no tool calls of any kind -- no probing or discovering tools, no reading of MCP descriptors or schemas, and no immediate calls to the search tools. Available options are determined purely by introspecting the tool names already in context: search_media_cms_channels enables a keyword-based option, search_electronic_media enables a Data 360 hybrid (semantic) search option, and an "Other" option for a user-provided URL or path is always included. If neither tool is present, the skill reports that no automated sources are configured and asks for a direct URL or asset library path.
Only after the user explicitly selects an option does the skill execute the corresponding search. Keyword search via search_media_cms_channels analyzes the query, extracts concrete-noun keywords (up to ten, joined with ` OR `) and descriptive taxonomy terms, determines a locale such as en_US, and builds a specific JSON payload with fields including searchKeyword, a stringified taxonomyExpression, channelType, contentTypeFqn, and searchLimit. A progress checklist tracks the steps from inspecting available tools through presenting options, waiting for selection, executing the search, presenting results for the user to choose, and applying the selected image to code. It requires the search_media_cms_channels and/or search_electronic_media MCP tools.
FAQ
Does this skill generate or edit images?
No. It is only for searching for and retrieving existing media. It should not be used to generate new images with AI, create graphics from scratch, or edit and modify existing images.
What must the first response be when the skill triggers?
A text-only message presenting the available search sources as a numbered list, with no tool calls. The skill must not probe or discover tools, read MCP descriptors or schemas, or call a search tool before the user picks a source.
How does it decide which search sources to offer?
It inspects the tool names already in its context: search_media_cms_channels enables a keyword option, search_electronic_media enables a Data 360 hybrid search option, and an "Other" option for a user-provided URL or path is always included.
What does it require to run?
It requires the search_media_cms_channels and/or search_electronic_media MCP tools. If neither is available, it reports that no automated media search sources are configured and asks for a direct URL or asset library path.
How does keyword search build its query?
It extracts up to ten concrete-noun keywords joined with ` OR `, extracts descriptive taxonomy terms into a stringified taxonomyExpression, and determines a locale such as en_US, then builds a JSON payload with fields like searchKeyword, channelType, contentTypeFqn, and searchLimit.
