Progressive Domain Crystallization (PDC) — a skill for building and maintaining a living domain knowledge base for any custom business application. Use this skill whenever the user is developing a business application and wants the AI to accumulate understanding of internal terminology, entities, relationships, and business rules over time — especially when that knowledge is not fully defined upfront and grows across sessions. Trigger on any of: "remember how our system works", "learn our domain

About domain-context

domain-context implements Progressive Domain Crystallization (PDC): a protocol for building and maintaining a living domain knowledge base for a custom business application, accumulated incrementally across sessions through human-AI collaboration. It solves the problem that an AI assistant does not know a company's internal terminology, entities, relationships, or business rules by default — and that this knowledge is rarely defined fully upfront but grows over time. The AI reads a structured domain file at the start of every session, uses the business's terminology exactly as defined, and flags gaps inline while it works.

The core protocol has three parts. At session start the AI locates and reads the domain file (reading a single file completely, or, for a split structure, reading the core index and pulling in only the relevant detail files via progressive disclosure). During work it uses defined entity names and terminology, and marks unknowns, unclear relationships, and inferred rules with explicit inline tags, never inventing domain facts. At session end it generates a 'Proposed Domain Updates' section — new entities, clarified terminology, relationships, business rules, and open questions — which the human reviews and manually applies, keeping the human as the domain authority and ensuring the knowledge base is never auto-corrupted. It ships a 14-section DOMAIN.md template with tier annotations, seed questions to bootstrap a new domain, an entity template, and an anti-patterns reference, plus a MAJOR.MINOR versioning scheme.

It targets teams building custom business applications who want the assistant to accumulate institutional knowledge — terminology, entities, state models, flows, stakeholders, and rules — across sessions. It is a pure documentation/knowledge-management skill requiring no system packages or network access, and is entirely benign.

FAQ

What problem does PDC solve?

It lets an AI assistant accumulate a business's domain knowledge — terminology, entities, relationships, and business rules — over time, so it stops misunderstanding business-specific language and data models that were not defined upfront.

How is the knowledge base kept accurate?

The AI never auto-modifies the domain file. It proposes structured updates at session end that the human reviews and manually applies, keeping the human as the domain authority and preventing corruption of the knowledge base.

How does it scale as the domain grows?

Through progressive disclosure: a single small file is read completely, but once it grows the AI reads a core index (Tier 1) and loads only the Tier 2 detail files relevant to the current task, using a three-tier Core / Working Context / Archive system.

What does the AI do when it hits something undefined?

It marks it inline rather than guessing — undefined terms as UNKNOWN, unclear entity relationships as RELATIONSHIP UNCLEAR, and implied but undocumented rules as RULE INFERRED — and surfaces these in the end-of-session proposed updates.

What are the requirements and how is it installed?

It works with any AI coding assistant supporting the Agent Skills specification, needs no system packages or network access, and is installed via `npx skills add customware-ai/skills --skill domain-context`. It ships a 14-section DOMAIN.md template, seed questions, an entity template, and an anti-patterns reference.
